For over 15 years, Dave Fiester & The Legendary Groove Monsters were THE legendary blues band in Central Florida.

Frontman DAVE FIESTER (guitar, slide guitar, harmonica, vocals) was no newcomer to the blues scene. For over 30 years he played the blues guitar with forceful solos and soaring improvision, letting the tune take him where it wants to go. His vocals & harp playing were highly emotional; his performances...full of expression. Fiester moved his audience...put them in the "groove."

Fiester was 12 years old when he fell in love with the blues. It was the Muddy Waters' song, "I'm A Man," that did it for him. "I thought it was the coolest music I've ever heard," remembered Dave. His first stage appearances with a high school band made him a local star. Soon after, Fiester fronted "Fresh Squeezed," a double-drumming blues band that toured extensively. Then came "Tight Shoes" which became one of the hottest blues bands in Florida.

In 1980, Fiester accepted an invitation from Henry Paul to join his band. In the following years, Dave recorded three albums with The Henry Paul Band and toured extensively with them, opening for such acts as The Rolling Stones, The Allman Brothers, Rosington Collins Band and Poco. He was the featured vocalist on the single "Long Shot," released by Atlantic Records and, while with Henry Paul, appeared on the television shows Solid Gold and American Bandstand, was in a music video for MTV, and performed a one-hour MTV special, "Live At The Ritz," televised from Los Angeles, CA.

In 1985, The Legendary Groove Monsters were formed, and since then Dave developed an immense following, headlining many blues festivals, and opened and performed with some true giants and pioneers of blues and rock, including Johnny Winter, Buddy Guy, Delbert McClinton, The Allman Brothers, James Peterson, Charlie Daniels, Molly Hatchet, Tinsley Ellis and more.

Throughout all these years, even when popular music changed style to punk and alternative, Dave Fiester's unique, high-energy, rockin' blues always maintained a faithful following. His fans came out to hear him and his band jam, feeding off each other's instruments like only those musicians can whose "groove" comes from the heart.

Sadly, Blues legend and founder of The Groove Monsters, Dave Fiester passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2005, at the age of 52. With his passing, Brevard County, Florida lost one of its icons, and the music scene will never be the same.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 25, 2005. Following the funeral, a Dave Fiester "Larger Than Life" Memorial was held. Many of Dave's friends and fans came and shared the stories, fame and music of Big Dave.

Big Dave left behind a long list of fans, many devoted friends, his beloved mother, brother and sisters, but he will live on in our hearts, and his music will live on forever...
